Day 1: Doi Inthanon National Park (L)
Doi Inthanon, at 2,565 m (8,500 ft.) above sea level, is the highest mountain in Thailand, located about 100 km southwest of Chiang Mai. It is also one of the most popular tourist destinations in Northern Thailand. Our tour departs for the park in the morning (we pick you up from your hotel or Chiang Mai Airport). Starting with driving all the way up to the summit, where you can say that you are on the highest spot of Thailand. Then, trek a bit through the rain forest to see some native plants and birds. Proceed visiting pagodas of the King and the Queen built by royal Thai air force to commemorate their 60th birthdays. At the pagodas you will admire beautiful scenery of the mountains in the park from the viewpoints there. After a lunch stop at the national park HQ, we then visit Hmong market to see vegetables, fruits grown by the Hmong people and handicraft made by them. Our tour continues with a visit to Karen Village and Siritharn Waterfall. We make our final stop at Wachiratharn Waterfall before return to Chiang Mai.
Day 2: Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai (L)
In the morning visit Doi Suthep Temple, the most important temple in Chiang Mai, located on mountain top. At the temple you will see golden pagoda containing a relic of Lord Buddha and mural painting depicting life history of the Buddha. From the temple can see panoramic view of Chiang Mai city from viewpoint. Travel onward to Chiang Rai, on the way stop at Mae Khajan Hot Spring and White Temple. We make a final stop at Singha Park where you will see beautiful tea plantation. Check into your hotel in Chiang Rai.
Day 3: Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai (L)
From Chiang Rai we head north to Long Neck Village where you can learn culture of different hill tribes including Kayan (Long Neck), Kayaw (Big Ear), Yao and Akha. Then travel to bustling town of Mae Sai, the Northern most town of Thailand on Thai - Myanmar border. You will have free time to enjoy shopping in Mae Sai Market. Continue to the Golden Triangle, once notorious for opium trade and where 3 countries, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. Visit opium museum and see Mae Khong River from viewpoint on the hill (Optional boat trip on Mae Khong River around Golden Triangle with a stopover in Laos Village is available here). Our tour continues with a visit to Wat Chediluang in Chiang Sean Ancient Town before making the way back to Chiang Mai.
Day 4: Mae Sa Elephant Camp and Handicraft Village (L)
Leaving Chiang Mai we travel northwest to Mae Sa Elephant Camp where you will first see elephants bathing in the river then enjoy 45-minute elephant show. After the show you have a chance to ride elephant if you want but tickets will be on your own cost. We stop for lunch at an orchid farm. In the afternoon continue to Borsang Handicraft Village to see process of umbrella making, fan and Sa (mulberry) paper at The Umbrella Making Center. You will also see other handicrafts made in this area including wood carving, lacquerware, silverware and Thai silk. Return to hotel or we can drop you off at Chiang Mai Airport. End of our service.
